Driving from Belize International Airport to the Compass Rose Guest House, Sittee Point (3– 3.5 hours): These Directions will bypass Belize City.  If you want to go into Belize City ask your car rental company for directions then you can pick these directions back up at Hattieville on the Western Highway.Take the Airport road to the Northern Highway. There will be a gas station on your left at this intersection.  (~ 2 minutes, 1 mile, 1.6 km)Turn left on the Northern Highway and travel to the Burrell Boom cutoff. There will be a couple of tall communication towers on the left side of the road before the Burrell Boom cutoff.  (~10 minutes)Turn left on the Burrell Boom road and take it until it meets the Western Highway at a roundabout in Hattieville.  Stay right. (~ 15 minutes, 11.5 miles, 18.5 km)Turn right or west on the Western Highway and continue past the Coastal Highway turnoff (DO NOT GO DOWN THE COASTAL HIGHWAY) until you reach the Hummingbird Highway which goes through the outskirts of the capital, Belmopan. (~ 40 minutes,  32 miles, 51.5 km)Turn left on the Hummingbird Highway.  You will pass a couple of gas stations shortly after you turn on this road.  If you need gas, get It Now! There are no other gas stations until right before the turn off onto the Southern Highway. Continue on the Hummingbird Highway through the Maya Mountains, past citrus groves until you reach the Southern Highway. The Hummingbird Highway is one of the most beautiful drives. There will be an Shell gas station on your right just before the turn off to the Southern Highway. Another good spot to fuel up. This is the last gas station before Hopkins. Please be alert!  There are 8 very narrow one-lane bridges & 16 Speed bumps on the Hummingbird Highway. They will sneak up on you. Many are not marked. You will find speed bumps as you enter and exit most villages. This is one reason we suggest NOT driving the Hummingbird after dark. (~ 1 hour, 10 minutes, 48 miles, 76 km)

Narrow Bridge1
Turn right on the Southern Highway (speed bumps).  Soon after you pass through Silk Grass village (more speed bumps) there will be a road to the left toward Hopkins. You will see a covered bus stop on the left. This is the Hopkins Road. Turn Left here.   (~ 15 minutes, 10 miles, 16 km) This road is never in very good shape. Dirt w/chuckholes & three one lane bridges.
Take the Hopkins Road until you reach Hopkins Village. (~ 10 minutes, 6 miles) You will see King Casava’s restruant/bar on the right – Bus Stop & Grocery story on left. Take a right in front of King Casava’s and take the road through the village until the so called pavement ends.  (~3 minutes, 1.5 miles) If driving at night be alert to people walking or riding their bikes on the side of the road. This road is in poor shape also.
Continue on the same, but now gravel, road until you reach an intersection where you can either drive straight or veer to the right! (~ 3 minutes, 0.7 mile)
STAY STRAIGHT this puts you on Sittee Point road.  You will see Belizean Dreams Condo/Resort to your left and then the Jaguar Reef Resort also on your left, Caribbean Properties sales office will be on your right along with a square yellow water tower.
Stay straight or keep left
Continue south about ½ mile and you will see a butter yellow garage on your left with a #12 on it.  Parking is in front of the garage. The Compass Rose Guest House sits right behind it.
Garage at the Compass Rose Guest House

You can Pick up Keys from our Property Managers, Tania & Uwe Kruggle, at the first house “The Purple House” on the left directly to the south.
